How much Drinking makes it Alcohol Abuse?
If you are concerned that what you are drinking may be too much, then this article is for you. There are ways to tell if the drinking that you are doing has become an out of control habit or alcohol abuse.
Drinking a lot of alcohol on a regular basis is just asking for problems with your health like damage to your liver, depression, and changes in your personality like developing a tendency toward violence. It can mean becoming heavily in debt or being involved in a serious accident. The danger of heart disease, stroke or even certain types of cancers is strong possibilities when drinking becomes excessive.
The first warning symptom is the need to drink daily. When alcohol becomes a way to lessen anxiety, be able to interact better in social situations, be able to relax or even sleep, and feel more confident while drinking, this has become a real problem.
The more that a person drinks, the more their tolerance for alcohol is increased and the more alcohol is then required to get the same results they are use to having from drinking. Keeping the consumption of alcohol down to just one or maybe two drinks becomes a difficult task. This means that the amount of alcohol consumed each week will add up to more and more until the person is consuming far more than what is considered a safe limit. This limit is fourteen units per week if it is a woman or twenty-one units a week if it is a man involved.
When the alcohol consumption becomes alcohol abuse, the person will begin to experience short-term loss of memory because the toxin of the alcohol being consumed is getting into the bloodstream and is beginning to affect the brain activity causing the laps of memory while drinking. This can amount to large spaces of time that the person cannot remember. Not only is this a very embarrassing situation for the person but it is frustrating to be told of things they have said or done that they have no memory of doing or saying. This can sometimes even be a dangerous situation.
Losing consciousness from drinking and then being awakened is not only a horrible feeling for the person that makes them very disoriented but it is also very confusing about where they are when they are awakened. Having blackouts from drinking is a more likely thing to happen in some people than it is in others. Any or all of these symptoms makes alcohol consumption more than just social drinking but makes it alcohol abuse.
