Some Important thing to know about Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol is usually the drug of choice these days. It is certainly not for those
who are dieting or wanting to lose weight because of its high caloric,
non-nutritional properties. Usually the person who is absorbed into alcohol
abuse will exchange the empty calories of alcohol for the valuable nutrients
that the body needs normally found in healthy eating. This is a lethal
combination of poor nutrition with the damaging properties of long term alcohol
abuse.
Over indulgence of alcohol is the most common thing that destroys relationships
and jobs. According to the statistics, almost half of all violent crimes,
suicides and accidental deaths were spurred on by alcohol abuse making the
possibilities of violence higher than they might have been. Alcohol is also
directly connected with sexual assaults and physical attacks. It is therefore an
understatement to say that it is imperative to get treatment for alcoholism.
The person who is an alcoholic, who has a severe addiction to alcohol, will have
an obvious problem because their whole life seems to revolve around the use of
alcohol. In areas of the world where alcohol is considered just another
beverage, alcoholism is a bigger problem. Over use of alcohol for extended
periods of time will most definitely lead to very serious diseases and severely
damage the quality of life for the person or even cause death.
The sad fact is that there are around 120,000 people who die each year in the
North America area alone due to the over consumption of alcohol. Those who
suffer from alcohol abuse in some form may not experience death but still have
altered lifestyles because of the alcohol use. Even those who do not drink have
suffered from those in their life who do abuse alcohol like destroyed
relationships, financial difficulties and loved ones who develop health
conditions. Alcohol overuse will change the temperament of the abuser which puts
their friends, their judgment, and their carriers in jeopardy.
When alcohol abuse begins to turn into an addiction, the person will need to
drink more and more. If they do not get some alcohol, they become agitated. This
agitation, if no alcohol is available, may escalate into a loss of control over
their emotions. Then, once they do get alcohol again the amount they drink may
be out of control. This is a vicious cycle that slowly begins to take over a
person’s life. Alcohol abuse is not alcoholism but is the forerunner of
something very dangerous.
